Chesterfield Chamber

BizWorks and The Chesterfield Chamber collaborate on a variety of projects and special events supporting small business in Chesterfield County. The Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce is the most influential and effective business advocacy group in Chesterfield County. With more than 540 members, it can be one of the best tools a business owner has available for channeling concerns to the county government and offers many networking opportunities with other business owners in the area.

Jefferson Davis Association

The Jefferson Davis Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was created in 1992 by civic and business leaders to address the revitalization challenges facing the historic Route 1 corridor in Chesterfield County. BizWorks was a program born out of The JDA and both groups work together on revitalization efforts on “The Pike”.

Small Business Resource Center

BizWorks partners with The Small Business Resource Center at Meadowdale Library to provide programing and resources to aspiring entrepreneurs at every stage of development. The center is a comfortable space where you can work, have meetings and training sessions, or even just simply network.  The space provides equipment that makes it easier to manage your small business.

Small Business Development Center

The Crater Small Business Development Center, located in Petersburg at Longwood University, is one of four full time economic development offices of the Longwood Small Business Development Center program. In addition to referrals and sharing resources, The Crater SBDC and BizWorks have teamed up to offer the Center for Women Entrepreneurs series and will continue to work on various projects for entrepreneurs.

SCORE Richmond

SCORE has been a long-time supporter and partner with BizWorks, offering expertise and referrals between programs and for aspiring entrepreneurs. SCORE currently shares office space with The Virginia Department of Small Business Supplier Diversity at BizWorks.  SCORE offers the nation's largest, network of free, expert business mentors.  With SCORE, you can have the honest, confidential and sometimes tough conversations about managing money, motivating your team, and other business topics. We can be your confidant, your cheerleader and your accountability partner on your path to achieving success.

Small Business Development Center

BizWorks hosts a VA SDSD representative one day a week at BizWorks who specializes in outreach and development of programs dedicated to enhancing the participation of small, women- and minority-owned businesses in Virginia’s procurement process.

They offer three certification programs:                 

  • SWaM: The Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) certification program is a state program of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose is to enhance procurement opportunities for SWaM businesses participating in state-funded projects.
  • DBE: The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification program is a Federal program. The purpose is to increase the participation of certified DBEs in projects funded by the US Department of Transportation and other federal sectors.
  • ESO: "Employment services organization" means an organization that provides community-based employment services to individuals with disabilities that is an approved Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accredited vendor of the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.
